The elements within your foundations should permeate everything and everyone on a daily basis. The overall vision and mission can not be just words on a paper but need to be the driving force behind your organization and appropriately reflect your organization's future. Everyone should know that vision and mission and use their expertise towards making that vision become a reality. Do you have values established? The values of any organization are critical as they will drive expectations and make them objective rather than subjective. Individual accountability such as showing up to meetings on time and being prepared become part of your organizations makeup and expectation rather than a constant issue.

It is difficult to move forward until you understand the current state of your organization and how you got there. What are your strengths and what key areas have been moving in a favorable direction? What critical areas are under performing been a stumbling block for your organization? Do you have an organizational plan and do you understand the strengths and vulnerabilities within your current staff?  How well does everyone understand the direction you are heading and how unified are they with that vision? What opportunities are available for your organization? It is critical to periodically ask questions such as these in order to successfully move forward.

It is generally accepted that we can be more effective with a plan than without one. There are several key elements that will maximize a plan’s effectiveness. Start by keeping it simple. The more complicated you make your plan the more likely it will get abandoned. Include your team and their ideas in the plan making process to generate buy-in. The goals established must support the vision and mission of your organization and they must be measurable. Tasks need to have due dates and an individual person responsible for each task. The team needs to agree that, in theory, by accomplishing the tasks the established goals will be met.

 

Strategy generates a clear roadmap.

Key #5 - Execution

Seems obvious but so many plans fall apart during this phase. A plan is only good if there is a commitment to see it through. The entire team needs to be unified and committed to the vision and plan.  With the next 12 month goals and objectives in hand, it is time to execute the plan. Your plan should not be a separate document for your organization but should be the driving force and daily focus for your entire organization. The fulfillment of the plan is what will move your organization towards its vision so it is essential to complete every task on time and with the highest quality possible.

This is the most important key and the heart of The Plan Maker! The top priority of coaching is healthy and positive accountability which results in success. From the perspective of the organization the goals and objectives must be met and should not be sacrificed. when we are dealing with people things can get complicated. The reality is people get sick, they need encouraged, they are not trained properly or they are disorganized. This is life! Key #7 - Adjusting

It is unrealistic to believe any plan will unfold exactly as it was laid out. Throughout the year it is critical to take a step back and evaluate what is and what is not working. Based on your findings, make adjustments with the ultimate objective to complete and achieve the original goal. In rare circumstances the goal may need adjustment but only as a last resort option. It is through these tweaks and management of these tasks that every established goal will be fulfilled. Plan Maker will drive regular times of review and adjustment throughout the year.
